Puppy Strangles
This is a classic example of Puppy Strangle seen in a young unneutered Lab. It is thought to be an immune mediated disease, in other words the immune system is acting inappropriately and over reacting. It is theorized that it might be triggered by a bacteria. It is usually seen in young puppies about 3-4 months of age. The lymph nodes swell and eruptions are seen around the nose and eyes. The puppies are placed on high doses of steroids and antibiotics. The outcome is usually good and pets tend to respond well to treatment as the next post will show his progress 3 weeks later
